A dedicated group of Grade 9 students from Sask DLC participated in the Regional Science Fair in Prince Albert on March 31st, marking an exciting milestone for both the students and the division.
For many of these students, this was their first time participating in a science fair, and the experience provided valuable opportunities to explore scientific inquiry, design experiments, and present their findings to judges. From developing research questions to analyzing results and building display boards, students demonstrated impressive commitment, curiosity, and perseverance throughout the process.
Their hard work paid off with outstanding results. Lyndon’s project, “How does different music genres affect plant growth,” placed 3rd overall at the Grade 9 level, while Avairy’s project, “How do microplastics affect plant growth,” earned 1st place at the Grade 9 level. These accomplishments are especially meaningful, as this was the first time Sask DLC students have participated in the Prince Albert Regional Science Fair.
Beyond the awards, students gained confidence, built presentation skills, and experienced the excitement of connecting with other young scientists. Their dedication and willingness to challenge themselves is something to be celebrated, and many are already looking forward to participating again next year.
Sask DLC is incredibly proud of these students for representing the division with such enthusiasm and excellence.
